2025 is almost over

In Honor of our brother ty milligan

Ty Richard Milligan

In honor of our brother, Ty Milligan.

On Thursday, June 5th, 2025 our brother, Ty Milligan, lost his life on a ride with his new motorcycle. Thankfully, his last moments were filled with joy and he was killed instantly. There is solace and peace in this. Ty was a natural athlete with a fierce love for his best dog 'Mac', mountain biking, motorsports, hockey, swimming, and travel. Ty embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and grit, the more adrenaline inducing, the better. Known for his ever-present smile and loud, cheerful voice, he brought energy and warmth wherever he went.

Ty, a local 191 welder was working at the fleet maintenance facility Cape Breton in the Boiler shop. He spent time at DND, Victoria Shipyard and Sooke Backhoe in his short but impressive and ever evolving career. He loved welding and was proud of his coworkers. Ty was universally liked for his can-do attitude, love of life and his ability to love others immensely.

All of us are in mourning for the loss of Ty, a gifted man, at only 32 yrs old. We honor our fallen brother, and share our deepest condolences to his immediate family, mom, Shelley Porter (husband Drew Porter) his sister Kacey (nephew Eli and husband Nick Searle), sister Jaime (nephew Trace and niece Brooke) as well as his extended family, a lifetime of friends and coworkers as well as his many acquaintances.

There will be a Celebration of Ty's Life on Saturday July 26th from 12:45pm-2:45pm at the theatre at Edward Milne Community School in Sooke.

Please send stories, photos, videos or shared music to Kacey, at kmilligan@sd79.bc.ca as well as any requests to speak at the event. The family would like to make sure everyone that wants to speak has time to do so.

Happy 100th birthday darrell walker
